Gonna have to level out the front wall in order to make sure the window and shutter fit right. That’s going to entail cutting a trench in the existing concrete. Have been wondering how thick the concrete actually is and whether my angle grinder will be up to the job… Sounds stupid I know but I reckon it’s only about 2cm thick – I’ve no idea what’s underneath and it’ll be intriguing to find out… More importantly it’s a relatively manageable job which I can just get on with without requiring a skip or extensive demolition. Most importantly it allows me to say that I’ve actually done some work!

Very excited this weekend! having rebuilt my iPhone on Friday/Saturday I went to collect my first purchase this morning. What we have here is an aluminium sliding patio door. roughly 1.7m wide by 2m tall. It cost me the princely sum of £71 – which is probably more than I wanted to pay (especially as I went 4 days on eBay as the only bidder at 99p!), but it was just up the road and how often do these things come up?

[Note: as it happens, sliding doors can be found more and more often on eBay now, as the older aluminium designs don’t meet the regulations required for houses – the locks aren’t good enough, they don’t insulate so well…]

With three sealed double glazed units my father-in-law was throwing out I reckon I now have all the glazing I need for my shed. I’m working on a Google sketchup design for the shed itself – but it looks absolute pants right now – will post it when I’ve figured out how to use the package better!
